On May 24,2012 my car caught fire!! I called the fire department and they came and put out the fire...

Later after the shock started to sink in I called my insurance to file the claim, I was given a claim number and was told that someone would be calling me in the morning. Friday morning no one called so that afternoon I called and spoke to the woman who is dealing with my claim and she did a recording of what all happened ect ect. Then she went through my policy and said well I see you have rental and towing on your policy and I said yes I do what do I need to do bc I do not have any other way of transportation. She then informs me well its different when its a fire you cant get it unless you pay for it out of pocket and 4-6 weeks after your case if closed then we will rem burst you up to 900 dollars!!

I said well why is that when I am paying for it in case something happens and it says that if I am left with out my car for more than 24 hours I could get one after I pay my 50 dollar dudctable!! She said well with the high levels of insurance fraud your case will need to be investigation.( which I had no problem with bc I wanted to know what happened to my car). then on Tuesday May 29 a insurance man called and said he wanted to come out and take pics of my car and to determine a cause. He came out and said it was engine failure had the capt of the fire department come out and he did some test and said the same thing!!

I called the insurance woman back and told her what all they said and she said well I still cant give you a rental car bc its a liability to the company!!!! so in the mean time I have been walking back and forth to work going to the store with my 3 kids and she said well im sorry to hear about that but its not my fault your car caught fire!!!! On June 1st a different insurance person called and said he wanted to make me an offer for my car beings it is a total loss. $2114.64 ..

I said what why is it so low for for 2001 chevy malibu with low miles and the works and he said oh well we use an independent company and they ran your vin and legally speaking you should have never had full coverage on your malibu bc in 2001 right after your car was bought it was totaled out it was in a wreck then in 2004 someone took your car to AL and got the title washed so it didnt have a salvage title on it any more it had a reg title so I better be glad they even offering me anything for my car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are not replacing anything is was in my car nothing but yet they have a company from Dunn NC coming tomorrow to pick up my car but yet I cant even get paid yet for my car or even accept the offer!!!

Well I just paid 59 dollars and ran a car fax on my car and it has nothing on there about my car being in a wreck ever or having a salvage title so I will be calling them back tomorrow bc they are trying to bull *** around about this and its not right!! I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON WHAT THE OUTCOME IS SOON :)

Wow thanks for the heads up, I almost purchased a policy, but after hearing this I won't be choosing dairyland. I suggest you find a lawyer that deals with insurance claims, it might be a pain but it will be worth it for the extra money you get on the claim, especially if the salvage title tactic truly was bogus.
