Unauthorized withdrawals from account

Dairyland Insurance made two unauthorized withdrawals from my bank account without any authorization, When called and a request was made to correct this problem I was stonewalled. Kim. the supervisor at Dairyland was polite and in so many words said tough *** and said there was not a thing she could do. Finding a phone number to talk to anyone other than at this site is very difficult. Typical corporate firewall. I have filed a police report and will attempt to recover almost $200 stolen from me. Corporate America at its usual piggy best. My name is John Nelson and I can be reached at jr28nel@***.com

Denied claim even though their policy holder at fault

On 1 August 2011 in San Antonio, TX a vehicle darted across the street and stopped suddenly in the path of my vehicle. I applied the brakes but was unable to stop in time and collided with that vehicle. The police report cited the other driver (a 16 year old) for failure to yield the right of way and crossing a busy intersection. My vehicle was totaled. Dairyland denied my claim by producing a fake witness who was no where near the scene and stated my account was not credible. I am grateful that my insurance company provided me with support. The Toyota dealership body repair manager stated he was aware of Dairyland's shady practices and warned that they would not honor their obligations.

I had a very similar issue. A dairyland carrier backed into my car while on the phone.

She admitted fault but, not report could be filed since it was a private lot. Now dairyland is saying since my horn was not sounded, even though my car was stopped, and put into reverse, that now I am also at fault. They also now have a mysterious witness just like in your case.

There were no witnesses that were at the scene. .

After Dairyland Insurance Company initially denied my claim stating my account of the accident in which my vehicle was totaled, the company finally admitted their client was at fault. My insurance carrier's subrogation department was able to obtain the amount paid me for the loss of my vehicle from Dairyland Insurance but as expected, Dairyland refunded only a portion of my $500 deductible. The use of highly questionable tactics by that company apparently keeps them in business.

Guest

After initially denying my claim in which my vehicle was totaled by a Dairyland Insurance Company client, the company contacted me offering to discuss "possible" liability by their client. An estimator was sent by Dairyland who told me my vehicle could be repaired at a cost of $5200.

I knew this was false as my vehicle sustained so much damage any attempted repair would be foolish.

The dealership body repair manager stated Dairyland Insurance only insures high risk drivers with extremely poor driving records and as such highly questionable tactics must be employed to keep the business intact. My recent involvement with them verified that statement.

DO NOT GET

WE HAD INSURANCE WITH DAIRYLAND AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL I HAD A CLAIM! MY SON WAS IN MISSISSIPPI AND THE HOTEL HE WAS IN GOT A FLASH FLOOD AND HIS CAR GOT FLOODED. WE HAD PICTURES, WE HAD EYE WITNESSES, AND WE HAD THREE COMPANIES TO LOOK AT IT AND TELL THEM WHAT WAS WRONG AND HAD TO BE FIXED. THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT AT FIRST. SAID THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE THAT HE DIDN'T LEAVE SUN ROOF OPEN. WHAT! EVEN IF HE DID, THAT IS WHAT I PAY INSURANCE FOR! IF HE WOULD HAVE LEFT SUNROOF OPEN THE WHOLE INSIDE WOULD HAVE BEEN RUINED. NOT JUST THE FLOOD UP TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEATS. HE HAD LEATHER SEATS AND WE HAD TO SUE THEM TO GET THE MONEY. TOOK THEM TO SMALL CLAIMS AND GOT IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY WE SENT SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Dairyland - Lied about Refunding $$

I spoke with Shannon on 9/20/11 after mistakenly making a $397.44 payment. Yes, it was my mistake, but I called in hopes of rectifying it.

I asked that Shannon please cancel the payment. She said she could not cancel it, but she could refund it. She gave me confirmation # of 2221JJ and told me that number confirmed the refund, and it could take up to 5 days. She kept saying that I had to call back to give her a different amount, but I told her I did NOT want to call back, I wanted the refund processed at the full amount.

That is when I was given the confirmation number, which ended up not confirming anything but the notes she decided to put re: our phone call.

I called back today to make sure the refund was processing, and got Evelyn. She told me she saw no refund on my policy. I told her my confirmation number and told her who I spoke with. She put me on hold for close to 15 minutes and when she came back, she said she would process the refund.

I asked why it had not been processed when I spoke with Shannon. She transferred me to a supervisor and she was not any help at all. All she did was recite back to me the notes Shannon had written.

I have decided not to renew when my policy expires. The customer service reps are rude and lie.

Would not pay a dime unless I admitted fault.

Updated by user Oct 31, 2011

I finally settled for less than the car was worth just get it over with. Live and learn.

Wish I had heard about \"Cerberus\" earlier. I would have checked it out.

Original review Aug 29, 2011
Police report stated that their driver turned into oncoming traffic in front of my car. Totaled it.

My insurance company told Dairyland their driver was 100% at fault and denied all claims. They didn't fight it, but when I tried to get money for damages (I didn't carry collision, so it was up to me to pursue it) they insisted that I admit 60% fault before they would even discuss money. After weeks of this I told them I was going to court, so they made an offer --much less than the car was worth, but I was in desperate need of transportation and just wanted to get it done with-- after I accepted that, they called back and said they wouldn't honor that offer and made a lower one. Stupidly I accepted it (desperate).

They finally sent me a check ( a week later than they said they would) for more that $500 LESS than what they had agreed to in writing! I'm renting a car and taking them to court for the entire cost of the car plus the rental and all the extra driving I had to do to get my family to work this summer. My advice is DON'T BE NICE.

Sue them immediately and you might get something. DON'T expect them to give you anything without a fight.

I am in the process of suing Dairyland for a client in very similar circumstances. If you would be willing to provide a statement with regard to your experience, please contact me. Mstraussesq@***.net

Don't sue them. You are going to burn through all of the money you collect in court and lawyer fees.

I had a similar situation to yours. Dairyland said I was 30 percent at fault when their driver ran a red light and pulled directly in front of me. They told me if I didn;t like the offer I could sue them. I did something better.

I found this company that does nothing but settle disputed insurance claims. They are called Cerberus Subrogation Professionals. They are out of Chicago but handle cases everywhere. They forced dairyland to pay the full claim.

Cerberus was willing to take my small claim, they charged less than an attorney, and they were able to resolve it way faster than a year long legal battle. I would recommend them to anyone getting the run around out there.

Dairyland Insurance Company Takes Advantage of Consumers

Paid for motorcycle insurance in March 2011...cancelled in June (so 3 months coverage) due to new policy with another carrier...received an $11.85 refund (paid $109.00 in March)...when I called was told that's their policy...this is robbery of the consumer at its worst...I plan to pursue with Insurance Commission...they should not be allowed to take advantage of consumer's like this...at the very least when I called to inform my agent that I was cancelling they should have reminded me of this so-called "policy"...not happy with Dairyland or my agent.

Dairyland paid for an accident, when he actually hit Me! Now my rates went up

It made me mad that Dairyland was on the ball to pay out for an accident that I was not at fault for. I may have recieved a ticket but I told the company that I was taking it to court and to not pay until I was found guilty. They paid anyway and now my rates went up for their mistake. Not Good. I don't understand why after me telling them what happened and why I told the officer I couldn't remember what color the light was when I went through(My Visor was down) My case was Dissmissed.

If you can't remember if the light was red obviously your at fault. Car does not drive with a mind of its own.DUH!!!!

Guest

you got a ticket not may have gotten a ticket. an insurance company never pays off unless the insured is at fault and then you are lucky if they settle.

insurance companies are in it to make money no pay claims. if you don't like the new cost sell your car and ride the gus or get a bicycle.

They Don't pay motorcycle claims

My parked motorcycle fell over on to another parked vehicle. Damage to the motorcycle was limited to a broken windshield. The PT Cruiser that it fell against sustained a large dent in the drivers side fender, that also pinched the driver side door, preventing it from being able to open. I called to report the claim. Jessica Parr from their Dairyland office called me back one week later to explain that my policy had cancelled on 12/09/2010 for nonpayment. I explained to her that was not possible. Motorcycles are considered seasonal vehicles by Dairyland in the state of Maine. They refuse to sell policies for terms less than a full year and payable in full at the time of purchase. I paid the full amount (approximately $113.00) on 07/02/2009, for coverage through 07/02/2010. She stated that it would require further investigation. She called me a few days later to state that the policy had been cancelled because I failed to return requested documents. I explained to her that I had received a request to send them a copy of my registration, as there was some issue with the VIN that I provided at the time that I purchased the coverage. I also assured her that I did in fact send the requested registration copy on the same day that I had received their request. She stated that all she could tell me was what their system stated and that based on that the claim would be denied. I told her that this was unacceptable and that I wanted to escalate the matter to her manager. She explained that she had no manager to escalate to, and that if I disagreed with her decision then my only recourse was to call Customer Service. I asked her for a specific name to escalate this to. She told me that the only information that she could give me was an 800 number for their Customer Service dept. After calling Customer Service, the representative went back to their original false statement, that my policy had cancelled in December for nonpayment. I explained their policy for "seasonal vehicles" and how not paying in full for the entire year had not even been an option. She then told me that I had requested some type of change in coverage that after initially purchasing the policy, which then increased the price, thus resulting in the premium change and resulting cancellation for nonpayment. I explained that I had not contacted them in any way other than to send in the requested copy of my registration' I had not requested or authorized any changes to my policy. She then placed me on hold to consult her supervisor. When she returned, she stated that this matter would need to be escalated to their Resolution manager. She was in their office, but away from her desk. She then put me through to "Melisa's" voice mail. I left Melisa a detailed voice mail, explaining what had happened. I also explained how disappointed I was that no one from their company was expressing any ownership of this issue and making any attempt at a successful resolution. I informed her that I sincerely hoped that she would accept ownership and that I looked forward to her returning my call. I also informed her that I knew about the Maine State Bureau of Insurance and would escalate this claim to your office if they were unwilling to provide the coverage that I paid for in full, in good faith. She has still not bothered to as much as return my call. Today (06/01/2010) I received a certified letter from Jessica Parr (the Claims Representative from their Davenport, Iowa office) officially denying my claim, stating that my policy was not active at the date of my loss. I believe that it is also important to tell you that there was no phone number on my insurance ID card to report a claim. As a result I did a search for Dairyland Motorcycle insurance claims on the Google search engine (please, by all means, try doing this search yourself). The first 7 hits that I got on my search were blog entries from consumers like myself, with the underlying message that Dairyland Motorcycle Insurance does not pay claims. I finally found the phone number to submit a claim on the 8th hit from that search. I implore you to please investigate this matter further. I do not believe that my experience is an isolated incident. The company is actively engaging in fraudulent activity. Fines, legal action, and perhaps even revocation of their license to practice in our state are appropriate. If you need any further information, please contact me by phone or email. Thank you you for your consideration. Almon W. Mitchell

I currently have dairyland auto insurance for my car. In the state of NC you cannot even attempt to get a license without having insurance first.

So about 2 months before I try for my license I get insurance with them (I have my permit). It was only $47 a month for 6 months. Then in the 4th month I add my car with my license. It only goes up to $49 because I only wanted liability.

Well when it renews after the 6th month nothing happens. But another 6 months later they charge me $171 taking all my money I had. Leaving me with $3 in my bank account. I called and they said I was a new driver and they ran some report and saw I had my license.

I got very upset because when I added my car I added it with my license and they never said anything about it then. Anyways I will now be trying to cancel dairyland auto and going on my parents plan.

Hopefully nothing will pop up. And they better cancel it before charging me an arm and a leg

Guest

As an insurance adjuster I see these issues happen all the time. Regardless of if an additional payment was needed, You should have known your policy was canceled.

The company sends out warning letters prior to cancelation and they retain proof of mailing for each of these letters they send. I am guessing you ignored or disregarded this letter and let your policy lapse.

Not the way it happened at all. As I stated in my comment below, it's not possible to buy anything but a full years coverage in Maine for a bike and pay in advance.

My address never changed and never received any correspondence from them except a letter verifying the VIN.

Believe whatever you want but this is exactly how it happened. That is why I didn't hesitate to call the bureau of insurance; and why they eventually paid.

Guest

They make me sick don't trust them!! It's been over 3weeks can't get them to pay for my bike...they want to pick my bike up then pay what A joke no $$ no bike!!

Guest

You are wrong Chris. In the state of Maine (with our limited motorcycle season) the only way that you can purchase motorcycle insurance is by paying for the entire year in advance.

I have no idea where you got the idea that I didn't pay my bill. FYI as further vindication, these ***-sucking bottom feeders DID pay; but only after I filed a formal complaint with the bureau of insurance.

But thank you for your baseless accusation of not paying my bills. That type of mindset would likely make you a PERFECT agent to sell Dairyland.

Guest

I have never worked with Dairyland on anything, but as an agent I have worked with several carriers on almost every type of P&C business. After reading this story I find it unlikely that it occured as written.

Insurance companies are pretty tightly regulated by the states especially about documenting conversations, information collected, and most especially premiums. I think Butch didn't pay his bill on time thinking it would not be a big deal because of the layup provision.

Guest

Worst experience in my life on earth dealing with these people~! Dead last in JD Power survey for customer satisfaction and I would say my experience shows why. Good luck with anything short of a lawsuit.

IXCHEL Oat

Get an attorney. If they are doing something wrong and something big..... then you can get your claim covered and maybe even for PAIN AND SUFFERING.

Guest

I agree with you. I am having the same situation.

I am from NY and they are refusing to pay a claim of mine as well. I want to see if there is fraud going on here.

Will not settle claim

My car was struck head on, left of center, on 9/3/10 by a Dairyland insured driver when the driver locked up the brakes and Dairyland still will not settle the claim. They are only offering 65% of damage when the state police report CLEARLY states their client was 100% at fault.

Lower than lowlifes! The agent NEVER answers the extension and rarely returns the repeated phone calls. They twist the information presented to their advantage.

Be extremely cautious of how you word answers to questions. They will twist the answers to benefit them and claim they are not 100% at fault.

well dairyland settled a claim with an girlfriend of mine really fast i didnt settle right away and they were ready now ive been ready to settle and there taking their sweet time telling me were ready going to make you an offer ill call you right back never anything overall their a pretty fair company thsnks dairyland we finally handled and closed the claim im well satisfied with the outcome

Guest

Yep I was sideswiped by some *** who then cut in front of me and slammed on his brakes....I couldn't avoid hitting him. Dairyland told me I was 30% at fault and could have avoided hitting him. Adjuster got real nasty when I asked her how she figured I was 30% at fault...supposedly it's settled and they're cutting a check...we'll see...

Guest

Agreed 100% with what you stated as we are going through the same *** and they have the nerve to deny our claim that their insured is at fault - failure to yield right of way when making left hand turn. Even stated if we were not driving that day, there would be any accident.

Guest

This freaking company is doing the same thing here when the police report states their driver, making a Left-hand turn and fail to yield to right of way of traffic, caused the accident.

Dairyland Insurance Sucks

truck turned left in front of me on my motorcycle was at fault and admitted he just did not see me. Dairyland told me that they were only going to give me 70% of the value of my Harley because I should had gotten out of the way of the truck and that it is 30% my fault for being on the road that day. Bottom line being honest just don't pay!!!!! Just wanted my bike fixed and now its costing me because insurance is a scam. P.S. when I get that new BMW and wrap it around a tree 2 days later guess who my insurance will be through. Thanks for the stick in the *** Dairylande

Failure to launch

your 24 hr automated payment option is real freaking joke. Ive been trying for an hour to pay my bill that's due today, however the 3 numbers that i have gives the same dumb a_ _ run around. What type of company doesn't allow you talk to a human being after 2pm. Then i go online to make a payment and what option does it give-it gives me 1 of the same numbers i already have that does not help. In addition to that i click the icon to contact the company and it gives the same useless number,no way to e-mail anyone. This is not the 1st time I've had trouble with the automated system that doesn't have clarity with the voices that prompts you nor a way to reach the right person to pay your insurance in your state. On top of all this *** my insurance will be cancelled because i can't pay my bill through a 24 hrs service that's not 24 hours. Moreover,i can't get through to my home office direct line either. They chose not to answer their phone even when their there. As soon as my policy is over i will not do business with insure one, viking, sentry,or dairyland.

Took payment and then cancelled insurance without notice

I paid my insurance company using the automated system and it cleared my bank but dairyland canelled my insurance anyway and did not send me notice that it was cancelled. the only reason i know it was is because i got a letter from the dmv saying my license is suspended for not maintaing sr22 insurance. If my payment was late and they had already cancelled the insurance then their automated system should not have taken my payment. I will be contacting my insurance agent on monday to resolve the problem. Dairyland can either return my money or reinstate my insurance.
